Ingredients

  • pounds bay scallops
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted, or as needed
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven broiler. Position the oven rack a few inches below the broiler.
  • Pat the bay scallops thoroughly dry with paper towels and arrange them in a single layer in a broiler-safe baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, lemon juice, and garlic salt.
  • Pour the butter mixture evenly over the scallops, making sure they are lightly coated.
  • Place the baking dish under the broiler and cook until the scallops are opaque and lightly golden on top. Watch them closely because bay scallops cook quickly.
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately with the buttery lemon juices spooned over the top.

Notes

  • Keep the scallops in a single layer for even cooking.
  • Bay scallops are small and cook quickly, so check them frequently under the broiler.
  • For the best texture, serve immediately after cooking.
