- 4 cups cornflakes
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring as needed
- ¼ –⅓ cup red cinnamon candies or red candy-coated chocolates
Line a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
Add butter and mini marshmallows to a large saucepan.
Melt over low heat, stirring frequently, until smooth.
Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Add green food coloring gradually until the mixture reaches the desired Christmas green color.
Gently fold in the cornflakes until evenly coated.
Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
Using lightly buttered hands, shape each portion into a small wreath with a hole in the center.
Immediately decorate each wreath with red candies.
Allow the wreaths to cool completely and set at room temperature.
Carefully remove from the parchment and store in an airtight container.
-
Work quickly while the marshmallow mixture is warm because it becomes harder to shape as it cools.
-
Lightly grease your hands before shaping the wreaths to prevent sticking.
-
Fold the cornflakes gently so they remain crisp.
-
Keep the heat low when melting the marshmallows.
-
Have the candies ready before you begin shaping.
-
Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
-
Avoid humid conditions because moisture can soften the cornflakes.
