Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1 –2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 shots espresso
  • Whipped cream optional
  • Ground cinnamon for topping

Instructions

  • Add pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice to a small saucepan.
  • Warm over low heat for 1–2 minutes, stirring until smooth and fragrant.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk and heat until hot and steaming. Do not boil.
  • Prepare the espresso and pour it into a large mug.
  • Pour the warm pumpkin milk mixture over the espresso and stir well.
  • Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use plain pumpkin puree rather than pumpkin pie filling.
  • Adjust the maple syrup to taste.
  • For an iced version, cool the pumpkin mixture and serve with chilled milk, espresso, and ice.
  • Strong brewed coffee can be used instead of espresso.
